Somiits App Refund Policy
Effective Date: July 2, 2025
This Refund Policy outlines the conditions under which customers are eligible for refunds for services booked and paid for through the Somiits mobile applications (the "Customer App") and related services. This policy works in conjunction with our Cancellation Policy and is designed to comply with applicable Nigerian consumer protection laws, including the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) 2018.
By making a payment for a service through the Somiits App, you acknowledge and agree to the terms of this Refund Policy.
1. General Refund Principles
Fairness and Compliance: Our refund policy is built on principles of fairness and adherence to Nigerian consumer rights, ensuring that customers are treated equitably while also protecting the interests of our service providers and servicemen.
Original Payment Method: All eligible refunds will be processed back to the original payment method used for the booking.
Processing Time: Refund processing times may vary depending on your bank or payment provider, typically taking 5-10 business days from the date the refund is approved and initiated by Somiits.
2. Refund Eligibility
You may be eligible for a refund under the following circumstances:
Service Cancellation (as per Cancellation Policy):
Full Refund: If you cancel a service 24 hours or more before the scheduled service start time, you are eligible for a full refund of any pre-paid amount (excluding clearly stated non-refundable booking fees, if any).
Partial Refund: If you cancel a service less than 24 hours but more than 2 hours before the scheduled service start time, you are eligible for a partial refund after a cancellation fee (equivalent to 25% of the total service cost) has been deducted, as per our Cancellation Policy.
Provider/Serviceman Cancellation or No-Show:
If a service provider or assigned serviceman cancels a confirmed booking with insufficient notice (less than 4 hours before service) or fails to show up for a scheduled service, you will receive a full refund of any pre-paid amount. Somiits may also offer additional compensation in such cases, as outlined in our Cancellation Policy.
Service Not Rendered as Agreed:
If a service was paid for but was not rendered at all by the provider or serviceman without proper cancellation (e.g., complete failure to show up, or service never started).
Defective or Substandard Service (Not Fit for Purpose):
If the service provided was demonstrably defective, unsafe, or not fit for the particular purpose for which it was purchased, and this was communicated to the provider and/or Somiits within a reasonable time after the service completion.
This includes situations where the service significantly deviates from the agreed-upon description or industry standards.
Somiits will investigate such claims. Depending on the severity and nature of the issue, a full or partial refund may be issued.
Material Discrepancy:
If there is a material discrepancy between the service description on the Somiits App and the actual service delivered, and the provider fails to rectify it.
3. Non-Refundable Situations
Generally, refunds will not be issued in the following scenarios:
Late Customer Cancellation or No-Show: If you cancel a service 2 hours or less before the scheduled service start time, or if you are a "no-show" at the agreed service location, no refund will be issued for any pre-paid amount, as per our Cancellation Policy.
Change of Mind (Outside of Cancellation Window): Once the cancellation window has passed, refunds for a mere change of mind are generally not provided.
Disputes without Merit: Claims of defective or unsatisfactory service that, upon investigation by Somiits, are found to be without reasonable merit or where the service was substantially completed as agreed.
Misuse of Service: If the service was rendered but subsequently damaged or rendered ineffective due to customer misuse, negligence, or unauthorized alterations.
Partial Completion by Agreement: If a service was partially completed by mutual agreement between the customer and provider/serviceman, and the remaining portion was cancelled by the customer.
4. How to Request a Refund
To request a refund, please follow these steps:
For Cancellations: Initiate the cancellation through your Somiits Customer App as per the Cancellation Policy. If eligible, the refund will be processed automatically.
For Service-Related Issues (Defective/Unsatisfactory Service):
Step 1: Contact the Provider: We encourage you to first communicate directly with the service provider through the Somiits App's chat or call feature to attempt to resolve the issue. Many issues can be resolved quickly and amicably.
Step 2: Contact Somiits Support: If the issue remains unresolved after communicating with the provider, or if the issue is severe (e.g., service not rendered at all), you must report the issue to Somiits Support within 48 hours of the scheduled service completion time.
Provide your booking ID, a detailed description of the issue, and any supporting evidence (e.g., photos, videos, chat logs).
Somiits Investigation: Our support team will investigate your claim by reviewing service details, communications, and potentially contacting both you and the provider/serviceman involved.
Refund Decision: Somiits will make a determination based on the evidence and this Refund Policy. We will communicate our decision and the refund amount (if any) to you.
5. Dispute Resolution
In cases of disagreement, Somiits aims to mediate disputes fairly. Our decision on refund eligibility will be final and binding, subject to your rights under applicable Nigerian consumer protection laws.
6. Policy Amendments
Somiits reserves the right to modify or update this Refund Policy at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting the revised policy on our website and through the Somiits Apps. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
